Wrightsville Beach Leash Laws

Public beach:

All dogs are required to be on a leash at all times while in the Town of Wrightsville Beach.

April 1st through September 30th
No dogs are allowed on the beach strand during this time.

October 1st through March 31st
Dogs are allowed on the beach during all hours.

You are required to always clean up after your pet and dispose of pet waste in available trash cans.

There are several stations containing complimentary dog waste bags just in case you forget to bring your own means of disposal and several dog-friendly water fountains located around the Town of Wrightsville Beach.

Violations of these regulations may result in a $250.00 fine for the first offense.

Do not walk on the sand dunes, or remove any vegetation from the oceanfront shoreline. Glass containers of any type are not allowed in Wrightsville Beach. Cooking devices, such as grills or portable camping stoves, are not allowed on the beaches of Wrightsville Beach.

Can dogs be off-leash Topsail?

Topsail Island is a dog-friendly beach community in Topsail Beach, NC. Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash from May 15th through September 30th. At other times of the year, pets must be under voice command but can explore off-leash. All pets must be cleaned up after.

What are the dog rules at Carolina Beach?

All dogs are required to be on a leash at all times. April 1st through September 30th, dogs are allowed on the beach during restricted hours BEFORE 9:00 a.m. and AFTER 5:00 p.m. Dogs are not allowed on the beach between 9AM-5PM. October 1st through March 31st, dogs are allowed on the beach during all hours.

What is the fine for drinking on Wrightsville Beach?

For those heading out to Wrightsville Beach be sure to keep your drinking of alcohol restricted to to restaurants and bars. According to the Wrightsville Beach Police Department a violation of the regulation will result in a $100 citation, if you are caught with glass on the beach it is an additional fine.
