2023 Swimsuit Trends: What to Wear to the Beach

Summer is here, and with it comes new 2023 swimsuit trends. From high-waisted bottoms to sleeves and pockets, there’s certainly some new styles to try.

Here are a few of the top swimsuit trends for 2023:

High-waisted bottoms

Our moms wore them back in the day and it’s really no surprise with the rise of ‘Mom Jeans’ that high-waisted bikini bottoms have also come back with a vengeance adding a bit of nostalgic flare to swimsuit options this season.

High-waisted swimsuit bottoms can be quite flattering helping to elongate the legs and create a more streamlined silhouette. They also help provide a little extra coverage for the cheeks and tummy. If you’re someone who enjoys the surf while visiting the beach, these bottoms may just be for you since they tend to stay in place more than the traditional high-cut and string bikini bottom options.

Cutouts

You may not be familiar with the term but we’re sure you’ve seen this style of suit making it’s debut already this summer. The cut-out one-piece offers more coverage than a bikini but shows a little more skin than a regular one-piece suit. These daring swimsuits add a touch of sexiness and edge to any look – perfect for those who want to show off their curves! Anchor with a flowy pair of linen pants or a wrap skirt – toss on a pair of wedges and a wide brimmed sun hat and you’re ready for whatever summer may bring your way.

Shimmer Bikinis

Shimmer or metallic swimsuits are a great way to add a touch of glamour to your beach look and are super popular this season. Any style, any color, shimmer and go!  These suits are perfect for moving stylishly from beachside relaxing to night-time fun.

Retro Prints

A little vintage touch accompanies retro prints this summer. Ribbons, silky fabric, ruffles and bows matched with loud floral prints or even soft tie-dyes are all the rage this season. Made more for lounging and looking rather than surfing and swimming these swimsuits are a fun and playful way to add some personality to your beach wardrobe. Want to make a statement with your suit? Retro prints are the way to go.

Solid and Block Colors

Solid color swimsuits are a classic and timeless choice. But this season we are seeing a lot of color blocks too. In arrays of beige, brown, and tan tones contrasted with piping, cutouts, and closures. These swimsuits are perfect for those who want a simple and elegant look.

Sleeves and Pockets

Yep, we said sleeves and pockets. Don’t think rash guard sleeves…think poofy, sheer blouse like sleeves. As for pockets, who doesn’t love a good pocket for all the little treasures one might find? All mixed together in a swimsuit though? This might be a trend w’re okay with skipping.

Built-in Sun Protection

Swimsuits with built-in sun protection are certainly not a new invention but as UV rays continue to get stronger, the resurgence of the SPF swimsuit isn’t surprising. What’s even better, they’ve gotten a bit more stylish and trendier so you can be sun smart and cute at the same time!
