Greenfield Lake Amphitheater and Live Oak Bank Pavilion: Two Great Outdoor Concert Venues in Wilmington, NC

Band at Live Oak Bank Pavilion

Live music or the beach? You don’t have to choose!

There’s no need to choose between the concert you’ve been dying to see or a beach trip this year because when you choose Sea Scape Properties, you can have both!

Whether you choose a beach vacation on Wrightsville Beach, Carolina/Kure Beach, Ocean Isle Beach or Topsail Island, downtown Wilmington is just a short jaunt away and home to two amazing music venues. And, with so many properties offering shorter stay options, you can catch a killer show and a little beach time all in one trip.

If you aren’t familiar with Wilmington, NC it’s a fantastic little bustling port city rich with history and culture. Also, it’s a city that loves live music. Greenfield Lake Amphitheater and Live Oak Bank Pavilion are two venues you don’t want to miss.

Greenfield Lake Amphitheater

Greenfield Lake Amphitheater is a 1,200-capacity outdoor venue located in Greenfield Lake Park. The amphitheater was built in 1974 and has hosted a wide variety of performers over the years, including Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and the Grateful Dead.

One of the reasons we love this venue is the location. It’s an extremely intimate setting that allows stage-front access so you can get up close and personal with the band at no extra cost. The area is surrounded by trees and backdropped by Greenfield Lake, which creates an outdoor setting that’s hard to beat. It’s a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere!

The sound quality at the amphitheater is also unique. The state-of-the-art sound system mixed with the aerodynamic build of the band shell creates an undeniably clean delivery of sound.

Live Oak Bank Pavilion

Live Oak Bank Pavilion is a relatively new addition to Wilmington. It’s a 7,200-capacity outdoor venue located in Riverfront Park which is right downtown. The pavilion was built in 2011 and has hosted a wide variety of performers, including Luke Bryan, Brad Paisley, and the Dave Matthews Band.

You can stroll around downtown, enjoy the riverfront breeze and grab a bite to eat before simply walking a few blocks to the venue. Afterwards, you can backtrack and catch all the excitement of Wilmington’s nightlife!

Besides the draw of of its central location, Live Oak has updated amenities too. The venue has a large lawn area, as well as a covered section with reserved seating. There are also VIP areas with premium upgrades, such as private restrooms and access to a full bar.

The sound quality at Live Oak Bank Pavilion is also amazing. The venue has a large sound system that provides clear and balanced sound throughout the entire concert area.

How to Choose

Both Greenfield Lake Amphitheater and Live Oak Bank Pavilion are amazing places to see a concert in Wilmington. The choice of which venue to visit really depends on, of course who you plan to see but also the experience you are looking for. Greenfield is bit more intimate and Live Oak is larger and livelier.
