Public Parking Information

If you’re staying in one of our Topsail Island vacation rentals, then no need to worry about parking! But, if you’re just passing through and want to get a little beach time in, it’s important to know what the parking rules are. Here are recent Topsail parking information guidelines as per the city websites:

North Topsail Beach

​Basic Information:

  • Enforced 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day, year-round
  • Visitors can purchase a parking permit via any of three options:
    1. Download the “SurfCAST by Otto” mobile app via Apple App Store or Google Play.
    2. Scan the QRcode located on the signs in the designated parking areas for link to the Otto Connect, Inc. secure website, or
    3. Call the Otto Connect phone service at 910-200-1497

Enforcement/ Violation Fees:

  • On-street parking is not permitted. Those parked in the right-of-way will receive a citation and fine.
  • Enforcement personnel will scan license plates at each lot multiple times per day and issue a citation to those who have not paid.
    • Same Day ​Violation Payment: $25
    • Standard Violation Payment: $50
    • Late Penalty: an additional $25 for payments not received within 30 days of the violation notice. After 60 days, violations will be forwarded to a collection service.​​​

Paid Parking Rates

Standard Lots

  • Hourly: $ 5.00
  • Daily: $25.00
  • Weekly: $100.00
  • Annual: $150.00 – per vehicle if purchased one at a time (New for 2023)
  • Annual: $250 for two vehicles purchased at the same time.

4X4 Drive On Lot Parking Rates

  • Daily: $25.00
  • Weekly: $100.00
  • Annual: $150.00 – per vehicle if purchased one at a time (New for 2023).
  • Annual: $250 for two vehicles purchased at the same time.

General Parking Rules

Public parking availability is limited each summer because of the popularity of the Town’s public beach, especially on weekends and holidays. To avoid a citation and $50 fine, get there early and park in designated areas.

Rules and Regulations

  • Park only in designated lots.
  • The right-of-way areas of state-maintained highways should not be utilized for recreational parking.
  • Do not park in a private driveway or on private property without express permission of the owner.
  • Do not park in handicap parking spaces without authorization.
  • Do not park within the designated Emergency Vehicle Access points.
  • Do not park on the grass within the confines of the town park, or on the Town bike/pedestrian path.
  • If you are planning on renting, please contact your rental company to find out how many vehicles your rental can accommodate. Adjust your travel plans accordingly.

 

Surf City

Surf City’s paid parking season runs from March 1-October 31. When visiting the beach during this time, you will need to pay to park from 9 am – 6 pm. You can purchase an hourly, daily, weekly, or season pass to accommodate your visit.

To obtain hourly, daily, or weekly passes use their text-to-park option (text SURFB to 25023) or scan a QR code once you arrive to your preferred parking spot. The hourly rates are staggered with parking spots closest to the beach being $5/hr, while outlying lots and spaces are $3/hr.

Topsail Beach

The South End Parking lot (between Shoreline Drive and Inlet Drive) offers paid public parking from March 1-October 31 from 9 am – 5 pm daily. The cost is $5/hr. (up to 4 hrs.) or $25/day.

The Parking Lot is located next to Topsail Beach Sound Access #1 at the end of Shore Line Dr. Visitors will see a newly posted sign on the left-hand side of the entrance to the parking lot.

There are 3 ways to pay for parking on the SurfCAST system:

  1. Download the “SurfCAST by Otto” app, setup your account, register your vehicle, and pay for parking
  2. Scan the QRcode on the Parking signs to link to a secure website and follow the prompts to pay for parking
  3. Call the Otto Connect team at 910-200-1497.
    • You will need to provide your email, phone number, License plate/tag number, state of registration, and a Credit or Debit card

All parking permits will use license plates for verification and enforcement personnel will scan them multiple times a day to confirm a valid parking permit, and issue parking citations to those who have not paid for their parking.
